Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has various openings of contract positions for Park Maintenance in the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department for the 2023 summer season. Contract duration will be until the fall.
PARK MAINTENANCE (CLASS ‘G’ ONTARIO DRIVER’S LICENCE REQUIRED)
General parks maintenance operations including:
- Building/apparatus/ground/horticulture maintenance and litter control.
- Flower bed preparation, installation and care of horticultural areas and hanging baskets (includes weekend watering),
- Greenhouse operational practices (including transplanting and watering).
- Mowing all turf area, ground maintenance, equipment, and apparatus maintenance.
- Assist with turf management, athletic field maintenance and general parks maintenance operations throughout the parks system.
- Collection of garbage and recycling throughout the parks system.
- Must possess a valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s licence with an acceptable Driver Abstract.
Applicants must be able to operate a variety of Class G Licenced vehicles (trucks with trailers) and equipment (mowers, line trimmers) throughout the City Limits. Compensation for this position is $17.23 to $18.39 per hour.
PARK LABOURER
General parks maintenance operations including:
- Litter collection
- Weeding and planting flower beds
- General Turf Maintenance
- Washroom Cleaning
Compensation for this position is $16.17 to $17.05 per hour. The contract duration will be flexible based on the availability of the successful candidate.
Shifts and hours of work for both positions will vary weekly, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. All positions will include day, evening and weekend shifts. An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required prior to the contract commencement date, at the candidate’s expense.
