JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for a maternity leave contact for the position of Supervisor, Recreation Business Services in the Recreation and Youth Services Division of the Corporate Services Department for approximately 12-13 months.
DUTIES
- Manage full-time and part-time customer service staff and office administration staff which involves hiring, training, scheduling, monitoring performance and implementing disciplinary action if required.
- Coordinate all event inquiries and prepare very detailed specific permits including all approvals and regulations involved with the event to be used by event organizers, staff, councilors and the concessionaire.
- Develop annual master schedules for all recreation facilities and market unused time within Parks and Recreation Facilities to maximize facility usage.
- Responsible for processing approved liquor licensed events within Orillia Parks and Recreation Facilities as well as responsible for all special event site inspections in both parks and recreational facilities in conjunction with the Fire Department and the Chief Building Official.
- Conduct research, prepare reports, make recommendations and present reports to Council as required as well as the preparation and administration of the annual operating and capital budget submissions.
- Responsible for payments, invoicing, facility rates schedules for all Parks and Recreation Facilities.
- Responsible for monthly and annual financial reconciliation as well as year-end auditing and reporting processes for the Division.
- Respond to all recreation facility scheduling or relevant inquiries, receive and resolve complaints, as well as deal with the public in a courteous and efficient manner to promote a high standard of public relations at all times.
- Establish business service standards for the division as well as identify and manage new business initiatives to increase revenues and customer satisfaction.
- Manage various agreements, advertising contracts and revenues for the division.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three-year degree in Recreation, Sport Management, or Business.
- Two years’ working experience in a municipal and recreation environment in either customer service or financial management.
- Proficient knowledge in management and scheduling of recreation facilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, interpersonal, and management skills.
- Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of the MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail.
- Extensive knowledge of Active Network recreation software, including administration functions, membership module, facility management module, registration module, and financial reporting.
- Possess a valid class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position at the incumbent’s expense, prior to the employment commencement date.
