JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for a summer contract position of Sport Coordinator in the Recreation, Youth, and Culture Division.
DUTIES
- Plans, organizes, supervises and coordinates summer sport leagues such as softball, 3 on 3 hockey, beach volleyball, and 7 on 7 soccer.
- Assists in recruiting, training and coordinating the work of volunteers (coaches), umpires, and referees for all games.
- Provides applicable training to volunteers (coaches).
- Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of program goals and objectives.
- Oversees, trains and supervises seasonal staff and volunteers.
- Acts as liaison between parents and caregivers within sports programming.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years’ experience organizing sport programs and/or leagues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and judgment skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certifiication required.
- Quest 2 and other related certifications are considered an asset.
Work hours vary up to 35 hours per week and will include evening and weekend shifts. The successful candidate will be required to obtain an acceptable and current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check at their own expense prior to the employment commencement date.
