JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia has six (6) openings for a summer contract position of Inclusion Counsellor in the Recreation, Youth, and Culture Division.
DUTIES
- Work directly with children with various disabilities to create a fun and safe camp experience.
- Work with day camp staff to adapt the day camp program to include campers of all abilities and needs.
- Monitor facility accommodations as per activity and safety needs.
- Maintain regular communication with parents/caregivers of participants during program duration.
- Use appropriate behaviour modification techniques when supervising participants.
- Deal with and respond to emergency situations.
- Must attend all staff meeting and training sessions as scheduled.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years’ experience working with children with special needs and behavioural challenges, preferably in a day camp/recreation environment.
- Experience working in a day camp environment an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and judgment skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification required.
- High Five PHCD
- Quest 2 and other related certifications are considered an asset.

Hiring Day will be held on Saturday, February 17 and from 8:30am-2:00pm for successful applicants. You will be contacted directly if you are invited to attend one of these days. This day requires mandatory attendance to be considered for the position.
Work hours vary up to 40 hours per week and may include evening and weekend shifts. The successful candidate will be required to obtain an acceptable and current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check at their own expense prior to the employment commencement date.
