CITY OF ORILLA FIRE DEPARTMENT
VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTER RECRUITMENT
REMUNERATION PAID QUARTERTLY
The Orillia Fire Department is accepting applications for Volunteer Fire Fighter positions.
To have your application considered for the selection process, you must:
- Possess a Grade 12 Secondary School education or equivalent.
- Possess or be willing to obtain NFPA 1001 (Level I and Level II), NFPA 1002 (chapter 5), NFPA 1072 (operations level) within a 2-year period (training provided in house).
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Be capable of handling intense and sustained physical effort.
- Be able to communicate clearly and read proficiently in English.
- Provide proof of having received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of COVID-19 vaccines as approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
- Provide proof of having received at least the first dose of the Hepatitis A and B vaccine regimen, and/or willing to complete three-doses within a 1-year period at the cost of the applicant.
- Be willing to participate in and successfully complete all assigned written, oral, and physical tests as set out by the Department.
- Have no criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted. A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check will be required prior to the commencement date of employment.
- Possess a valid driver’s license (DZ classified preferred) and a dependable means of transportation. As well as an acceptable driver’s abstract (three or less demerit points). Candidates are required to be submit an up-to-date driver’s abstract with their application.
- Be willing to obtain their DZ licence within the first year of employment.
- Provide a copy of valid and current certificate for CPR and First Aid with application.
- Preferably reside in the City of Orillia, or within a given distance of the Fire Hall at time of application (driver’s license must validate).
Compensation for this position is $23.62 to $28.76 per hour based on years of service with the Orillia Fire Department.
