JOB DESCRIPTION
The City of Orillia has various openings for part-time contract Event Staff positions in the Business Development, Culture and Tourism Department at the Stephen Leacock Museum and Orillia Opera House.
DUTIES
- General event set-up including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, displays, decorations, tents, and signage.
- Closing duties including tear-down of event displays and decorations, emptying garbage and recycling, putting away tables and chairs, and cleaning up areas where required.
- Open, operate and close bar, concession or Museum gift shop, including cash handling, inventory control and reconciliation.
- Customer service duties including greet and direct guests; assist with parking, ticket taking, and seating; answer questions related to the event and facility; and monitor guest activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage cash and work in a fast-paced environment.
- For Concession and Bar work only:
- Must be 18 years of age or older as per Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario requirements.
- Possess Smart Serve and Food Handling Certification required.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check will be required at the incumbent’s expense prior to the employment commencement date.
Compensation for this position is $15.50 to $16.63 per hour. Hours of work will vary and will include evenings and weekends.
